We had a long day yesterday as we traveled to San Antonio for checkups for the boys. These trips are always hard and long, but to me it is worth it to have the boys examined by a “real” pediatrician. When Wesleigh was a baby we saw a doctor here in Del Rio and they missed one thing after another. So, then we decided to switch to the San Antonio pedi and haven’t been let down!! We still do some sick visits here in town…ear infections and stuff, but we will NEVER, and I say NEVER deal with local doctors for anything that seems even remotely serious. Been there, done that, won’t do it again!!
Anyway, so we went to San Antonio. Jim’s sister and her husband were there for a couple of days, so we met them and had lunch at Olive Garden before the boy’s appointments. It was good to see them, and they enjoyed (as always) loving on the boys.
So, this was Wesleigh’s 18 month checkup and Ethan’s 4 month checkup.
Wesleigh weighed in at 22 pounds 7 ounces and was 33 and ½ inches tall. That puts him still around the 75th percentile for his height and the 10th for his weight. The doctor said that he has developed his own “curve” on the growth chart and seems to be following it very consistently. The commented on how much his eyes have improved. She said he looked like he was right on target developmentally. The only thing we didn’t check off on the developmental questionnaire was “can kick a ball”. Well, we’ve not had him try to kick a ball, so we will have to see!! She thought his language development was great and she also gave us some tips on dealing with his sudden mean streak.
Ethan weighed in at 13 pounds 2 ounces and was 25 and ½ inches long. That puts him just below the 25th percentile for his weight and around the 50th percentile for his height. She showed us his plots on the growth chart and stated that he looks like he is going to follow Wesleigh’s growth chart!! On a side note, at Wesleigh’s 4 month checkup he weighed 14 pounds and was 26 and ¾ inches long. So, he was a little heavier and a little longer. I guess maybe Ethan knows mama needs him to stay small and cuddly for a while since he will be the last little baby mama has! He is hitting all his developmental targets and looks amazingly healthy.
The health of my children is something that I am eternally grateful for. There are so many families that deal with health issues and problems that are so devastating to their families. I don’t for a second take for granted the amazingly healthy children I have been blessed with!! PRAISE GOD FOR HEALTHY KIDDOS!!
After we got home from San Antonio, I had BUNCO with the ladies. Such a fun little treat for me away from the kids! Doesn’t happen very often, so I treasure it when it does!!
So, today, I am packing us up because we leave on Thursday for vacation with Nana and Grandpa and the my brother and his kids! We are excited, but still wondering how we are all going to get there with all our stuff in tow!!
These pictures were taken at a birthday party a few weekends ago. It was the first birthday party that Wesleigh attended for one of his little playgroup friends. It was at BUMPY’s FAMILY FARM. It is a petting zoo with a few other activities. The kids had a good time. Wesleigh loved the animals!

He was hot, but had fun.
There were little baby chicks in there
He loved the animals. He was actually more comfortable with them than Guy and Jaedyn. Guy absolutely wouldn't hold the food in his hands for the animals to eat it. Jaedyn did a time for to, but Wesleigh loved to let them eat out of his hand. He had a great time at the petting zoo!
We will have vacation pictures up late next week. Enjoy!

"Going for the cow's earring!!" I love it!! That is too cute. Sounds like something John would do!
Yay for a great appointment. I better make sure Brian can kick a ball now. I showed him the other day but instead of kicking it he stepped on it and fell alot. Oh and he just wanted to throw it. Looks like the redneck ride was fun. Good thing kids don't know the difference!
